Gratitude from our Vicky

The happiest of New Years to everyone – I hope you all had a wonderful time over the holiday season & managed to negotiate the stresses & strains that always come with spending a lot of time with your nearest & dearest.

Our Christmas was quite a different one this year – the first without my beloved Dad (whose birthday was Christmas Eve) & my dear Uncle who we also lost just before Christmas. In spite of there being a few tears along the way we still all managed to pull together as a family on Christmas Day & Boxing Day and did have a wonderful time with lots of laughter & singing, food & drink ……. exactly how they would have loved it.

For the remainder of the Christmas period & New Year Andy & I spent a lot of time with our friends, their families & of course all the dogs – we had so many fun afternoons & evenings that it feels quite strange now to not see them every day!

New Years Day for me involved a journey up to Chester for my Uncle’s funeral – yet another really sad day but one that allowed the whole family to come together & share memories of this truly remarkable man.

So – for New Years resolutions? Well, instead of my usual ‘get fitter’, ‘eat better’ etc I’m changing it up this year to make sure that I let my family & friends know how much they mean to me and show them how much I appreciate them. It’s so easy to trundle along assuming that everyone knows how you feel, and to a certain extent they do, but actually putting it into words & saying it is so much more powerful. I wish I’d told my Dad & my Uncle more how much I loved them & had spent more time with them, but you always think you’ve got all the time in the world – I’m determined to make sure I don’t make that mistake again.

So, for starters, here we go – I can’t tell you how much I love coming into Spirohealth & seeing you all each shift, hearing about what’s been going on with you & seeing how you’re all progressing with your treatment. It means so much to me to be able to share your journeys with you & it’s really very special.
