Introducing our Osteopath: Saeed Akhtar

Saeed Akhtar, D.O., N.D., BSc (Hons) Ost

I have always harbored a profound passion for health and medicine. Some of my earliest memories involve massaging my grandparents and parents, skillfully walking up and down their backs and legs with my little feet. This early sense of accomplishment ignited a lifelong desire to help others feel better, a commitment that continues to this day as an Osteopath.

At the age of 13, my fascination with healing deepened after watching a TV documentary on acupuncture. This pivotal moment led me to begin formal studies in acupuncture in 1980 in the U.K. I then traveled extensively to enhance my knowledge of Chinese and Japanese acupuncture, as well as western medical dry needling.

My dedication to natural medicine resulted in a Master Herbalist Diploma in 1982, followed by many years of further study  a D.O. qualification in Osteopathy in 1993, and an N.D. qualification in Naturopathic Medicine in 1993. My postgraduate studies at the Sutherland Cranial College eventually led me to work at the Osteopathic Centre for Children in 1996.

In 2013, my interest in treating TMJ was rekindled when I established and managed a dental clinic. There, I observed numerous patients suffering from this condition. After selling the dental practice in 2018, I delved deeper into my previous studies and conducted further research in cranial osteopathy, including completing a postgraduate TMJ diploma course.

My approach to osteopathy is eclectic and patient-centric, utilizing a variety of techniques tailored to individual needs. I am well-versed in both traditional and modern osteopathic practices. In addition to osteopathic and chiropractic techniques, I employ medical acupuncture/dry needling, instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization, functional taping, and myofascial cupping.

I continue to integrate my extensive knowledge and experience to provide comprehensive and effective care for my patients, embodying a lifelong commitment to the art and science of healing.
