POSTURE MYTH #3: Tight sports bras support you best
Tight sports bras can actually affect your overall posture and breathing by pushing your spine off line. The tight shoulder straps dig into you and tighten up your trapezius muscle (stress muscle at the base of your neck)- this can add to tension type headaches too.
The strap around your rib cage shouldn’t be tight either. If it is, it can stop the natural ‘bucket handle’ movement of the ribs- therefore negatively affecting your breathing.
Imagine not breathing deeply while you are training? Hinder your performance right? Slow your recovery? Yes!
Loosen the shoulder straps a little and you will breathe easier and still get support.
Tight sports bras do not work!
