Do You Have Good Or Bad Posture

You could change the course of your and family’s life right now!

I was out for a lovely dinner last night when I looked over to the table next to us and saw a very familiar sight. A special family dinner- grandparents, parents and children. The adults were laughing and talking between them and the kids were on the Ipad. Now, I can totally see the golden value of an Ipad at a restaurant to keep the kids entertained- boy do they sit still! The only complaint will be over whose turn it is next.

These 2 beautiful little girls (no older than 6 years old) were playing an educational program- even better! Sums and numbers and a big competition. Lots of giggles. I was amazed at how quick they were to answer the questions too. Then, being the Chiropractor I am, I noticed their posture. Now, I know most of you out there are unsure of what to look for in a good posture besides head up and shoulders back. What I know about the human structure (posture) is that it has major affects on the function of the body.

The one little one in particular had her head down, chin to chest and a massive fold just under her breast line- like she was in a squashed up C shape. This is a typical posture for children on devices, adults on devices…everyone. I know most of you won’t be aware to look at this in your children, or yourselves for that matter BUT I am here to tell you it’s serious. I see adults and the elderly with weak bodies, stiff, sore aching joints and not to mention an array of health issues today because of the posture they have taken on from their daily habits many many years before, even from as far back as their own birthing process. YES I know its crazy but true.

Top 5 affects of this poor posture:

  1. Forward head carriage reduces lung capacity by 30%: You not breathing deeply, not enough oxygen to the body. What will this do to energy levels, metabolism, athletic performance, focus and concentration? Others include blurry vision, headaches, earaches, hearing loss, balance problems (clumsy child)
  2. Folding under the breast line: this collapse of the spine again puts undue pressure on the heart and lungs- working harder than normal. The stomach and intestines get compressed leading to reflux, constipation, diarrhoea.
  3. Poor posture- affects sleeping patterns.
  4. Weakened immune system.
  5. Painful neck and back and muscles.

The youngest body I have worked with is 72 hours old ( wouldn’t you be more than happy to prevent problems in your children?)The oldest is 93 years old (never too late). I am happy to answer any questions or queries you may have on this too.

You can catch me fixing bodies using ABC and posture at Spirohealth, London, United Kingdom.

So grateful for your attention on this VERY serious subject. Please consider having a check up or at least asking a few questions- it could change the course of your and your family’s life.
